An excellent historical fiction that provides a wealth of information on the Civil War Era. The strong character of Charlotte Waverly comes alive as she follows her heart, against all odds, to become a nurse for the United States Sanitary Commission.

The book is rich in historical detail and will open your eyes to the horrors of war and the medical treatment provided to the soldiers during this period of history. This book is beautifully written and I highly recommend.
