the Lost Wife by Alyson Richman
An emotional story about a love and marriage interrupted by the dark days of the Holocaust. The author gives vivid descriptions of Jewish families placed in Terezin, a place of great deprivation. It gets so much worse as families are eventually transported to Auschwitz, where the gas chambers and crematoriums burned seven days a week.
This book is achingly sad about tragedy and survival during this bleak period of history, but I highly recommend. It's one of the best books I've read this year.
