The Way of the Knife: The CIA, a Secret Army, and a War at the Ends of the Earth, by Mark Mazzetti

The ends of the earth are remote places not only in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but isolated hideouts in lesser visited countries of the Middle East. The CIA and special forces have joined together to enhance the war on terror by targeting individuals for lethal drone assassination, a method even President Obama endorses. Regarded by world leaders and independent Americans as soft on enemies of the United States, Obama and CIA director Leon Panetta, and to a lesser degree Hillary Clinton of the state department, have come to appreciate the efficiency of Bush's policy of killing committed terrorist thugs via drone strikes.
Author Mazzetti has written a well-documented and readable account of the history of drone warfare, the killing machine. Most interesting is Panetta's enthusiasm for the deadly military tactic, once telling Secretary Clinton she was wrong to question the appropriateness of the method, During his CIA tenure, Panetta authorized 216 drone strikes, killing nearly 1,200 members of the Taliban.
The question is: Are citizens of the US next?
