The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
The setting of this book is post WW I in Australia. A WW I veteran and his wife are lighthouse keepers on Janus Rock off the coast of western Australia. They desperately want a child, but have none. Miraculously, a small boat washes up onto the beach on Janus containing an infant girl and her dead father. Decisions are made that change many lives.
Excellent book. Page turner. Beautifully written. Vivid, descriptive language.

You'll really disappear into another place and time with the descriptive writing, becoming entangled in deep sadness as the story develops. I kept thinking that the storyline would never be resolved satisfactorily for all involved. The ending is powerful, poignant, and soul stirring. An unforgettable story that I highly recommend.
