A Serpentine Affair is a very complex, multi-layered story, but the individual stories come together with an intricate plot that doesn't let go.

Seven friends come together for their annual reunion. They've been friends for over 25 years and this year they were having a picnic at Hyde Park. These occasions seem forced with unspoken rivalries and resentments. The day extends into hatred and envy, with poisonous secrets revealed, that causes a strong turbulence. And the story unfolds with startling revelations -these seven lives will never be the same.

The author effortlessly weaves together these seven separate lives, creating a powerful web of deceits, lies, and misdeeds. The descriptive writing was incredible - done in vivid detail - and the last chapter (which I loved) leaves you with a crescendo of suspense.

I have just a couple negative comments. Keeping track of the seven characters was confusing at times. It would be helpful to have a character list - perhaps in the front of the book. The editing - the version I read is specifically for NetGalley users and content/format may change slightly. I hope the editing is improved - too many grammatical errors and misspelled words. My rating is 3.5 stars.

I received this complimentary copy from NetGalley for an honest review of this book. The comments shared in this review are solely my own.
