Still Alice by Lisa Genova
This is a thought provoking book about a woman who is diagnosed with the early-onset of Alzheimer's disease. It is written from Alice's perspective, a 50 year old woman, and how she and her family deal with the devastating affect it has on their lives.
This very informative book helps to establish a great awareness of the early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and how it progresses. It is not an easy disease to diagnose, especially people diagnosed with early-onset. So many times it can be be an incredibly long and arduous journey when the symptoms are mistaken for other illnesses.
This is not a story that unfolds into a happy ending, but a story that leaves you with a saddened heart. A beautifully written book that I highly recommend.
